The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Squealing from front wheel arch

    G'day everyone,

I drive a 2019 Tiguan 162 R-line which is brought brand new. I replaced the front rotor Bosch BD1566 and brake pad Heller T2488 last May. The car is now 46,000km on the clock and just a daily car, no off-roading.

A squealing noise from the front wheel arch comes up a few month ago when I steer left at any speed above 30kM/H~. It’s hardly noticeable but a video taken a while ago is here: https://streamable.com/o233ik

Both the dealer and the mechanic who changed the brake for me couldn't find anything like stuck/jammed object nor groove on rotor.

The noise is more subtle now and it happens even the car is going straight on road with crown. I feel like it’s related to weight shifting.

Any thoughts guys? I really want to keep my car.

    Thanks,
    FKH

Hi Lloyd, my video doesn’t capture the noise too well anyway. I can confirm it’s a high pitch scrapping noise (not grinding) like the one on YouTube: High pitched noise at low speeds.. Any ideas? - YouTube
Mine one is triggered by steering more or shift of weight laterally.

I can hear it, as you said it’s not very loud in the video. Does it only make the noise while moving? It’s not an idler bearing or water pump bearing noise on your drive belt?
Just a thought, it’s really difficult to locate a noise without being there in person tbh.

The video on YouTube is not from me but is exactly the same kind of noise that my car makes.
Yes. It only happens when the wheel is spinning. Also, only when the car is warm, say 10-15 mins suburban driving.
