  • New R, black **** on edges of glass, can any dealer manage warranty?

New Golf R Wagon received a typically horrific predelivery that was sorted out by the detailer when ceramic pro applied. One thing the detailer couldn't/wasn't keen to attempt to sort was some unidentified black crap at the bottom edge of the front windscreen. See attached image. Anyone know what this is or how to get it off? Clay does nothing, neither does IPA.

Also, nav system is showing three dead led rows that'll presumably get sorted under warranty. Can any dealer take on warranty work? Couldn't bare heading back to the fwits I bought the car from.

    Bullet Fast,
Warranty has to be every dealers responsibilty not just the selling dealer. Go where you feel they will look after you.

I have had warranty honored after it ran out, because I got them to service the car regulary. And I was assertive but pleasant.

And I have had warranty done by a dealer who never serviced the car.

Depends if they like you or not.

If the dealer will not sort the windscreen issue try a O'Briens windscreens? And see if they will advocate with the dealer for you.

    Cheers Al

Can I ask can you feel anything on the actual surface of the glass , because to me it looks like moisture has gotten between the layers of glass . Windscreens unlike side glass and rear are made up of several layers two glass and a clear sheet of some sort of plastic , if water gets in between thats the effect you can see . Also try and use a razor blade to see if it is on the surface, if not then back to the dealer for a new windscreen under warranty .

It's definately on the glass, in fact all the glass right at the edges, almost like black paint. I'll see the dealer has to say about it.

Good news on the warranty stuff.
