VW Plans to End Petrol Motor Development in 2026

VW have now given a date for petrol motor development to stop, that being 2026. As stated this does not mean they will stop production only halting development. The second link explains it the best and no you don't have to race out and buy a new car to get a petrol engine just yet.

Both those headlines are highly misleading.

According to this, they still anticipate producing ICE vehicles beyond 2050 for some markets where the charging infrastructure is poor. Although they won't develop new engines beyond 2026, they will continue to develop those existing to meet changing emissions standards.
