Or I could buy my child a $20k brand new car that is safe and reliable. A brand new $20k car has Auto Emergency Braking these days! 10 years ago, your $200k Merc S Class didn't.
No offence but I would rather my child learn to use their brain eyes and common sense rather than relying on techology to the job they should be putting 100% into . If technology takes the driver out of the equasion then we will be come a bunch of brain dead drivers and where would the fun of driving be then . There is enough evidence that a lot of this technology cannot replicate what the human brain can do , those collision lane things are know to slam the brakes on because the sensors detect a car parked close to the lane the car is in and it thinks someone is intruding on its space ! Being rear ended because some computer thinks it knows better is not my cup of tea , obviously this stuff is going to become more and more prevelant in cars but I like to think the reason I have my licence is because I was taught to use my brain and eyes and common sense when driving . I spent good money on a defensive driving course for my 16 year old son some years back and what they taught him has I believe kept him out of trouble for many many years . I recently drove an expensive car that was equipped with sensors all around the car , it had things beeping around the car as each sensor at the front rear and sides detected cars parked each side , I could easily see those cars with my eyes and I did not need some bloody annoying beeping thing to tell me what was obviously right there !! Sorry to go off topic slightly but I couldn't help myself .
