Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

It's a sixfooter. Paint's a bit thin here and there, and the finish isn't great, nor's the body work. But I don't care. Still love it all the same. Just gives me an excuse to repsray it again!

I thought someone would say that haha

You sprayed it yourself? I did a few bits on mine with rattle cans. Turned out pretty good but want to learn how to spray properly. I bought a compressor etc so Im going to start practicing

Well this is the first car, (and thing too) that I've sprayed properly. I just watched a few vids, read a few things online, and had a mate that helped me out. I also did it in my garage. In 35degree heat. In about 1 week. The last three things weren't such great ideas.

Welcome mate! As everyone has said, the car is MINT! Embarassing to say but the paint looks so much better than my Mk3. Take good care of it!

Sorry to butt in but Dad and I have an Austin 1800 MkII, there are some around, you just have to go to English car shows...or were you talking about newer Austins (which I have never heard of or seen any)?

A bit newer than that although the 1800's are nice looking cars. Heres some pics of my Dads MG Maestro Turbo since you havent seen one before:
