Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Swaybars are going onto my GTI this weekend. That with the Koni coilovers already fitted should be great. Unfortunately I have recently had to remove my BBS 18s as the tyres are shot so its back on the standards. Still, it has meant that I have been able to lower it some more!!!
I will let you know how I like my swaybars mate!

the next thing planned for the GTI is a new anti-roll bar for the rear. i really want to dial out that factory understeer and make try and make it as flat and tail happy as that mini!
im desperate to chip especially after driving a fellow golfmkv members car and giving it a good thrash but i currently dont have the funds for that sort of purchase
Just a quick question (a bit off topic) whereabouts did you get the flag that you have on the grill???

      Nice car!

        i got it from http://www.eurobadgez.com/euro_badges.html
cost bugger all and arrived pretty quick seeing as it was from the US.

also see http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/showth...608#post525608 for installation instructions (skip to page 3 if you cant be bothered reading through all that pointless banter lol)

and Andrew that would be great to find out your thoughts on the rear sway bar!

im also going to tint my tail lights this week whilst im on my break to make them look like OEM r32 tails. i have seen pics of a few guys who have done it on their GTIs with great results! it sure would be a hell of a lot cheaper than getting the $380 OEM items!

I saw the results on the Mk5 forum and they look great. I bought the tint spray and did some Mk2 and 4 lenses as practice. It is very easy to go too dark though so beware. Lucky I have heaps of new Mk2 tailights here to practice on!!
I am holding off on the Mk5 at the moment. The masking job would have to be spot on I think. And 2-3 coats would be sufficient. They definately would be an improvement (especially on a red car) but if done wrong it would be a pain.
Let you know about the swaybar/s next week!!

haha you got that right! i wash it at least once a week and it still looks filthy most of the time.
the tailgate and wheels are by far the worst though... but not for much longer as im upgrading my pads and rotors and from what i have heard the new pads are almost dust free in comparison

as much as i love black cars i most certainly wont be getting another one. it shows up EVERYTHING from dust to streaks to scratches. i clean my sisters silver GTI every few weeks and it never looks as dirty and you dont have to be so meticulous with the chamois.

my next car will be white for sure... i recon white cars are seriously cool these days
