Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I once had someone photoshop the R wheels onto my car and didn't think it looked good, but your 17's definitely work for you... just a shame they're on a diesel

I'm actually somewhat interested in these ones but since I'm not well versed in the need-to-know I'm hanging back, plus for a first time I'd prefer to go local. I'm also thinking I've done enough to this car and should leave things as is for now and see if I upgrade to a Mk7.

Ryan - Thanks, i was a bit worried about the R wheels as well in 17's thinking they'd look silly being 2" smaller then they should be but they do suit and look quite good! (they are a pain in the A** to clean though!)

I did look at the ones you linked but decided not to go that style as they looked a little small in 17".

Now now.. don't make me come down to Melbourne and show you what a diesel can do

IMO these are still the best looks / quality for the money:

        GTC Wheels

But they are in quite a different vein to the ones you seem to be looking at.

Yeah, trying to keep the OEM look. Probably won't bother with it on this car.

I've had a couple of PM's asking for a close up of the leather seats to see what the perforation looks like with red coming through instead of the normal black..

Heres a couple of close ups.

I have put a K & N Highflow air filter in the Golf now and the fuel economy has improved substantially. I have noticed a slight improvement in power but nothing to get excited about.
