Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • My MKVI TDI

    Hey guys,

I took a few photos of my MKVI 103 TDI yesterday and thought id better throw a few up, please excuse the iPhone shots.. (will try and get some better ones on my proper camera)

    The list of mods include;
Custom leather trim, Red perforated leather inserts, Black suede inserts in the side bolsters and black leather every where else, arm rest also in black leather and door inserts in the red perforated leather and black leather arm rests.
    Window tint
Red LED's in the foot well light up dimly at night for a nice glow, matches well with the 'submarine lighting'
19" Starcorp Variant wheels (which are for sale by the way)
LED DRL's in the front bar
    De-Badged it
    iPod Connectivity
    Golf Floor mats

I won't be doing more mods then that as i do a lot of k's to get to and from work and i need to keep it as practical and comfortable as possible. I am going to downsize the wheels to 17", although they wont look anywhere near as good for the k's i do the 19's just aren't practical.

Great work with the custom leather interior mate! Would love to see some high-quality shots of the leather and suede finish; are you happy with it? Mind if I ask where you got it done, and roughly what it set you back? I guess the standard seat trim was cloth, as it doesn't appear you have seat heaters?

      Thanks Adam,

The leather was done by a friend of mine who is a motor trimmer. It only cost me $1000 and im pretty sure it was just the materials and a small amount of labour. The combination looks really good and i'm very happy with it. Yeah, my standard trim was just cloth and i missed out on the heated seats but it is always garaged and doesn't get that cold inside anyway.

        Love it.

Some GTI pedals would look great in there too: VW Tiguan - R-Line GTi pedals, ALL versions LHD or RHD, Manual tr. or DSG, NEW! | eBay

Where'd you get the DRLs from?

          Thanks Ryan,

The DRL's are just outdoor 12V LED strips, i had some black stickers made and put over the top so that they don't stand out being clear/white in colour against the black, then i just cut a small hole for them to push through and they are double sided stuck on.

lol, sounds a lot cheaper than it looks, but that's what matters

Looks real nice! The wheels suit, do you just need a more 'forgiving' ride?

Couple of questions, though: Whats the deal with the old style radio antenna (photo 1) & the 'skid marks' coming from under the rubber (photo 3, 4, 5) ???

ps, kinda wish i could still utilize a 'normal' hand-brake sometimes, on my Tig...

Good to see another Gosfordite proud of his car. I like the photo shoot area, around the stadium. And, I like the old time aerial comment

PS. Did you get the leather done locally?

                    Ryan,

The strips are made by OEX - i refuse to buy the el cheapo's off ebay as they keep dropping LED's and these cost me $30 per 30cm strip!

MGV - Well that would be the street light of the carpark but i see where your coming from, needs one of those old school fluffy tails hanging off it! As for the tyre marks, if they were from doing a burnout then there would be no tread pattern but it is a case of the old water across the road jobby! I really like the wheels but i've done 50000k's in the last 12 months and have picked up to many punctures and as soon as these go flat you don't notice as quick and the sidewalls get damaged so it has cost me a packet in new tyres! So just going to go some nice 17's.

GTD Dubber - Thanks mate! It is a nice spot there, just wish id gotten there earlier while the sun was still shining on the car park. The leather was done in Thornton at Brad's Custom Trim (where my friend worked).

The 19's are now off the car, Had a set of 17" Golf R Replicas put on today.. Looks different with the smaller wheels but it will be a lot more practical then before. Will take some photos when i get a chance.

I got them from Tempe Tyres in Sydney, $1100 for rims and tyres fitted with the new Kumho tyres.. The whole lot was cheaper then just 4 tyres for the 19's! They are a well made wheels and well worth it, they have detroits in 17's too which were my first pick but of course were out of stock and had no delivery dates!

Well yesterday i pulled out the proper camera and my GoPro with fish eye and went and got some photos when i was up Newcastle way with the new wheels.

I really like the 17's and am used to the smaller rims, the ride comfort has returned and its nice and quiet... I'm also returning an impressive 4.5l/100k/m again!

This is the DRL for those that have been asking
