Well i guess this is sort of related. I made a time lapse movie lastnight. It was shot from inside the car and shows much of the CBD. This was made up of around 360 photos, which were 2 second exposures taken 10 seconds apart.

Nice video, although I think the extended exposures made it difficult to figure out your route (although going Pyrmont - Chatswood via Kings Cross seems kind of odd?)
Camera was setup in the back on a tripod.
I used the Powerbook to trigger the shutter via usb. There is a neat little Nikon program called Camera Control Pro, and its got a time lapse function. You set your exposure to what ever you like open the time lapse controller function and you can set the amount of frames you wanna shoot, and the delay between each frame. Easy as
