The server is being hammered again by crawlers, we are seeing tens of thousands of "users" online. Rather than give up and take the whole thing offline, I've switched it over so users must be logged in to even read the forum. I've also removed the ads completely once you're logged in since they are now basically worthless and annoying.

It's not ideal, but it keeps things online for now until I work out a better approach.

Gave the Amarok some love this weekend. After 41000km and some silly driving up and down Mt Mee by my 18yr old son, the Amarok was in need of new brakes ....

Fitted these on Saturday, and they do work well. Drilled with little slots and high performance pads (minimal to no dust TG!).

Incidentally discovered that the Amarok front brakes are 2 pot calliper units, did not know that and quite impressed.

Also did some VCDS coding to turn off the sound actuator, activate auto rain closing and turn off the nag screens

EDIT: Incidentally, had the Mustang tuned 2 weeks ago (after 2 years of ownership and just under 9,000km) to bring all the mods done together. Now making just over 360kw/580NM. Not a bad result for a NA car I think. Traction is even more of a problem now

The GFB Diverter valve certainly is an interesting piece of work .... fitment with the intake elbow was tight.

Agree, its an absolute travesty that the manuals have been dropped in Aus from MY19 onwards. This 1 was literally the last new manual R in QLD for sale (and possibly all of Aus that I could find) and sat on the dealer floor unsold for almost 4 months. That is sad for 2 reasons, (1) that the people buying R's have lost the will to live (sorry, drive properly) and (2) that the lack of sales forced this onto VW Aus.

Personally, I'd like the option to buy a manual and will even pay the same price as an auto (like what BMW does) to order 1 in. I understand not keeping them in stock due to slow turnaround times, but at least let me order 1 if I want to, and let me wait the 6 months for delivery

This was an impulse buy, actually went to look at another Amarok at the dealer, walked past this R and that was it. Got a good deal and been pretty happy so far.

    Project R

So 1 week in after arriving some minor love expended on the R ....

upgraded the mirror covers from the cheap UNPAINTED silverish (even the base Golfs have better mirror covers) to some Carbon Fibre ones ....

After some research (thanks to the Tig 2 thread) into flow rates of intake piping, I upgraded the stock TIP and elbow to MST high flow ones.

    Golf 150TSI project

Been loving the Golf for the last year. It is amazing that you can buy a car this good for so cheap. Would I have liked a GTI to run around in? Probably, but I don't think it is 2x as good as the 110TSI.

In manual form, even the stop-start works beautifully with none of the DSG, stop-start lag at the lights. The clutch is the perfect control for it.

Towards the end of next year it will move on to my daughter (under 25 so GTI was never going to happen) and been driving it stock for almost a year now. Well now it is time to get some love.

Will be chasing 150kw through a CAI and a tune (also possibly an exhaust) with some cosmetic updates in the next few months. Some parts have started to arrive .....

So the Mustang keeps on getting more mods done to it ....

Fitted Ford Performance Track handling pack ... massive improvement in handling with only a slight deterioration in ride quality.

These NA mods all make small but noticeable improvements. Bit different to the simple Forcefed method of a tune and voila here is extra 50kw!

All up I've probably added 35kw and still yet to tune the beast .... (that comes next)

Yes and if any needs a polish/detail it takes even longer! The Amarok and Mustang takes forever due to lots of metal bodywork ....

Should get better next year, the Amarok (to son) and the Golf (to daughter 2) will "replace" the Rodeo and the i20. The Accent will make way for a new Tiguan Wolfsburg Stg3 (now that HUD is available) or a new SQ5 or a new Macan S. Not decided yet which 1. Latter 2 will likely only get Stg 1 treatment. Golf will probably (for me) then be replaced by a small hot hatch (manual Polo GTI if available).

Daughter 1's CX3-Max and the Mustang will stay. Be down to 6 cars then.

Thx absolutely loving it, it is an amazing car to drive, much much better than what I could have hoped for! It’s a Ford after all .......

That said, it is horrendously heavy on fuel (the expensive 98 too ..... +-17l/100km in town ) So with the current deals on by VW, I added a new 110TSI Golf to the stable as a daily run-around till I can get my hands on a new Mk6 Polo GTI .....
