Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

      Since you asked

Car has changed a fair bit since this original post, under the hood now running a 2.0l 16v on K-Jet, 50mm intake, lighten flywheel, custom extractors, 2 1/4 mandrel bend stainless system, altered cam timing and solid mounts, pictures of engine bay will come once its cleaned up still a mess at the moment, thats backed up by a locked 4speed .

Other changes are Advanti Racing Tenzo wheels 16x7 running 205/40 Nexen rubber (had to step up the wheel size for traction reasons), hottuning coilovers, carbon duck bill, 83 gti window spats, rear wiper, and the last picture just sums up the mods to present day

As for the future big things are on the horizon for this car, next year those plans will be in motion, in the not so distant future will be working on something new for the car shortly getting her ready for vw warwick 2008.

looks nice though i think those wheels would look a heap better in matt black and red? u handy with the spray cans and i'd like to say that your traction issues are prob due to the Nexan tyres your running? :-P but still lovin it and one of my fav mk1's in Aus!

The pictures dont do the wheels justice advanti claim they are matt black but id say they more of a semi gloss, ive gone from a 185 to a 205 tyre so traction has improved alot.

              Look's good.

I reckon with all the other GTI gear on it & large rear light's, the full GTI sticker kit is the go, along with the lower sill trim strip.

Maybe it's just me, as I really like the look of my GTI.

How's it go with the locked diff.?

Zenders are in storage but they will be back

Driving with a locker is fine i don't have any major issues with it, anything over 20km/h is like driving a standard car handles great if not better turns fine turning circle is decrease slightly, under 20km/s with 205!!! rubber you just have to be alert when parking little bit of muscle is required but i generally don't park my car at shops or anything like that its a weekend only car,

but a locker does put alot of stress on the car to help that my car runs a front H brace, reinforce steering column and engine bay is seam welded.
