Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 1976 MK1 - Brisbane

    Hey guys
I recently brought my mk1 from a former member of this forum, this is my second mk1, the car has been upgraded to 1983 gti specs, 1.8l 8v on k-jet, 5 speed gearbox, full 1983 gti interior, ive been working on the car since i brought it just tidding up and fixing known faults with it which the last owner pointed everything out which was good of him, and slowely ill upgrade and change a few things over time.

here are a few pictures. the other car in the pictures is my mates 1983 British Campaine Edition.

Just like to add if any golf nuts go out cruising let me know im normally out and about the gold coast either im the MK1 or my Lancer GSR.

Thanks for the comments i posted a couple more pictures also includes my Lancer GSR.

Future plans isnt anything over the top just clean it up a bit get everyhting working like fatory few things are on switchs and buttons etc..etc.. main goal is to get the head done bottem end seems good ill leave that for now valve stem seals are starting to leak so ill look at porting, oversize valves and a decent size cam nothing over the top and clean the engine bay up and its in drying need of a decent exhaust system
