Doesnt look to bad Alot of white thats for sure lol.

As for beating a GTI the new ones no. Stock standard Mk4's without any chips yes... But it also depends how you drive the car.

vr6 sounds absolutely porn mate - nice car

noobish question from a polo owner, but does a chipped vr6 respond aswell as the gti models? it would be a blast if it did...

No not really you get a increase of 8-12bhp and not much at all and for the money no.

Have a look at the Cruise, Meet section of the forum we are organising a track day for January some time. There aren't many of us running around in vr6's these days.

I have PM you about a meet up.

for the money use would spend on a chip i rekon it would be alot more worht it that u spend ur money on a microtech computer for it (anyone second that)

As far as my limited knowledge on chip tuning a vr6, you can't just buy any old chip from the states thats OBD or whatever, because that doesn't exist in Australia.
Chip tuning on turbo cars allows for much greater adjustment and improvement as they are tuned cautiously from the factory... Adjust the timing, boost, this that, the other, and presto, you have power... (In layman's terms)
After market ecu's can get expensive, and it depends on who does the work...
I went to get a quote on a Autronic SMC the other day...
                        Unit - $1910 inlc. GST
                        Assorted Sensors - $500
                        Dyno Tuning - $500
I install it, get it running, and then the professional gets it right. From there, i go turbo, and get it retuned if need be..

                        So around $3000
But for drive in drive out, I was quoted $4500 for a VR6...

Also, be cautious of who does your work! Some systems don't come with base maps for some motors. Don't be stooged! Do your research!

Wise words there Sean. I was thinking about a aftermarket one aswell. I got quoted $800 for a GIAC one. Static has got the wolf 3D would that do any good? I know that they are expensive but I'm sure that they are worth it.

Hmmmm.... You could always get an Oettinger engine tune if ur cashed up. It would be my choice of performance mods for a VR6 when (if) i get one...

                              http://www.oettinger.com.au/oau_vwgolf3_et.html

                              Check it out - 147KW, 259NM!!!!!!!!!!
                              Modified air intake tract
                              Modified intake manifold
                              Oettinger exhaust components
                              Dual Oettinger cams
                              Recalibrated engine management system

If that doesn't get ur blood boiling...

                              Cheers
