Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Only problem is, a car that low is totally undriveable! unless it's on bags.

Sure it looks great, but driving safety is another issue! haha.

I've always preferred stance over slammage. (almost always, exceptions being low riders etc )

yeah i totally agree, in oz with our bad roads its pretty useless to have a car that low. and most if not all handle horribly , i dont mind it on slow cars but a vr6 that doesnt handle is as usefull and 1.8cl lol. i used to drive a beetle that was so low it had no travel in the front balljoints (about 20mm to the front beam) and about 20 degrees neg camber in the rear. it was a laugh to drive under 80kmh but anything more was dangerous. i just cant daily a low car where i live due to the horrible roads. plus do a sump in a vr6 and its $$$

Dear, oh dear, you all sound like a bunch of wrinklies with back problems...
Obviously ride height is a personal preference and in my opinion cars look better lowered. You don't have to slam as hard as mine of course...I don't think mine's that low anyway, could go lower. I get around no problem, I just have to slow down for speed bumps which only gives me an excuse to play with that VR power over the other side. Also did someone mention worse handling on lower cars?? ...yeah, maybe if you go the cheap route and hacksaw your springs but my H&R set up definitely, DEFINITELY handles better than stock.
        Cheers,
        Thomas
