Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Anyone recognise this - Mk2 T5 bumper area elec?

Putting a friend's Mk2 T5 front end back together after a bingle and don't recognise this device from the harness that runs along the bumper area. Sits in the harness between the middle parking sensors. I want to fit the new front plastic and finish it, but have no idea there this came from - was all displaced in the accident.

    Any help most welcome!

    Outside air temperature sensor.

It'll clip into a hole somewhere in the airstream behind the bumper.

Bewdy. Muchas gracias. I've even had a good second guess that it might be a temp sensor. The van is actually a Multivan, but the replacement front end stuff is basic grey plastic repro Transporter - no holes for front parking sensors and probably no hole for the temp sensor! I'll tape it on somewhere

Geeze. I just had mine off earlier in the week and saw the temp sensor.
It had it's own mounting somewhere in the middle by memory.

I haven't been able to find an obvious mounting point, either in the old broken front section or the new copy. I think I'll have to invent it ... unless someone can chip in who knows where it SHOULD go.
