This unit installed 1 year and 14 days ago has lasted for 15k and shot already! Only 1year warranty I have been told as it was not installed by VW. Waiting to hear back from installer to see if they can do anything for me...Next one will be the fourth after travelling 115k from new. Peeved!
Get the intake manifold/EGR ports all checked for excessive soot, chances are manifold and egr pipes are gunked with soot causing your new valves to go bust, seen it many many times, people just keep fitting new valves... Remove manifold, throughly clean, same with EGR pipes, replace valve and be done with ever replacing it again.
yes you are probably correct, looking into the inlet manifold there is some build up.I have the previous EGR and it is not clogged at all.As long as carbon is being recycled through the inlet with oil I can't see how there can be any other outcome.Surely an end to the once preferred long lasting diesel engine... I would love to delete the whole lot and have a nice clean intake! Can I ask are you a mechanic?
That is a big job Rebuilt...The T5.1 has a plastic manifold.I went into local VW parts place yesterday and they have said they will replace the part under 24 month warranty but labour is not included about $600. I just need to get the original invoice to prove it came from VW, which it did as I have the box...I have the previous EGR that was replaced last year, it had been in for over 50K and there is only a small amount of build up in it.From what I have read it is often an electrical fault in the top that causes the malfunction. The parts guy said he can see they have made a few changes to the part over time so hopefully the revised newer version may be better....
