  • Day Time Running Light issue

    Hi guys and gals.

I have a MY11 132kw 4 motion T5.1 and we had the left day time running light blow. While it was out I had the battery replaced as it was getting a little sluggish to start. The gentleman who replaced the battery hooked up a battery to the computer system to save our system settings. Replaced battery and car starts and runs perfectly. One touch windows don't work but re-enable those no problems.

Replaced the day time running light and it doesn't turn on automatically. I followed the instructions on page 119 in the manual and I can't the lights off or on. When I'm trying to do the process the replaced globe lights up so I know the globe is functioning correctly.

The light charm doesn't work either when you leave the lights on and open the door. Can't seem to get that to work either....

Has anyone had this issue before? Any suggestions?

I could only suggest you disconnect the battery and that may clear any faults , yes you may have to reset the radio code / windows is just pull the switch up to the full close and that's all . I suspect that using another battery to hold the memory may have scrambled the cars electronics . Just an idea .

The memory minder obviously did nothing, as the windows lost their basic settings.

Ensure the correct globe is fitted.

I thought that might have to be the case. I was going to try that tonight.

I have the correct globe, I was lucky to get one through Repco as they'd ordered it in for someone and they never picked it up. Unlucky for me as it cost $132..... I should have just disabled the day time running lights for that price.... Ridiculous.
I can only imagine how expensive it would be for someone taking it to a dealership.

I'll disconnect the battery tonight and update the thread.

Repco aren't exactly the benchmark for aftermarket prices.

Just to clarify, when you talk about the 'globe', is this just the bulb? When the daytime running light bulb blew in my 2013 T5, Austral Motors charged me $7.51 for a new bulb. Quite probably I am missing something obvious here

I disconnected the battery and tried to activate the DTRL and deactivate them and I still can't get the left side to come stay on. Comes on when you're trying to active them while following the instructions but can't seem to get it to come on.
I know the globe/bulb works as I swapped it over to the right side and visa versa but the left side just won't come on when you turn the car on.
I think the computer is in a pickle (technical term) since the battery was changed while the left DTRL was out of action. I don't know. Next time it's in for a service at VolksMuller I'll ask them.
