Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Bilstein B4 front Shocks for T5 from https://au.vwheritage.com

    Hi,
Has anyone purchased from vwheritage.com. ? They are UK based but pretend to have a shop in Sydney with a Sydney phone number. Got an English speaking lady on the phone who swore that the Sydney store was just busy, and offered a call back (still swearing it was from Sydney) between 6 and 9PM.

I don't mind purchasing from the UK https://au.vwheritage.com/ and after re-reading their home page it seems like they are sort of saying that they were a UK company shipping free to Australia for orders over $250. Be interested if the same goes for 4 shockies which have weight and volume.

My concern is that Bilstein B4 Shocks for T5 are almost too cheap and maybe fakes.

    $87.70 for Bilstein B4 front Shocks for T26, T28 and T30 T5 03- on (mine being a T30 at 3000kg GVM if I'm not mistaken? anybody.)
$96.70 for Bilstein B4 rear Shocks for T26, T28, T30 and T32 T5 03- on (doesn't actually mention the word transporter anywhere on the page, just T5 03-) I hope I'm not barking up the wrong tree....

Would love to hear from anyone with experience or thoughts on these guys.

    Thanks
    Ian

We have Bilsteins shocks in our 2012 T5 along with Bilstein coilovers the ride is very nice even with all our camping gear and trailer with three MX bikes onboard . The van is 40mm lower and I admit I was concerned with loading the van up too much but it seems I was wrong they handle the load without any compromise . It has never hit the bump stops unlike our older T5 which was modified by King Springs on the Gold Coast unloaded it occasionally hits the bump stops if you manage to find a decent pothole at speed . These are the ones we have on ours VW T5 T5GP 1.9 2.0 2.5 3.2cc T26 T28 T30 Bilstein B14 Coilover Suspension Kit 47-196704

      Hi,
I think they are a different model to the ones I'm looking at. I don't think the Bilstein B4 is height adjustable, and just uses old springs, which are fine.

Anyone tried the Bilstein B4 ?

I've had three big orders with them in the past 18 months...including a door skin. Generally no dramas. Only downside is their communication is not up there with the best of them. Happy to use them anytime I can get enough parts to warrant free shipping...

Personally, not a fan of Bilstein dampers if the vehicle wasn't designed for gas dampers.
