Where to buy seat and floor covers for T6 Multivan?

Hi,

I've recent bought a new T6 Multivan for our family of (soon to be) six, and I'd like to attempt to keep the food/sand/vomit/etc off the seats and floor, at least for a while. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to buy decent seat covers for Multivans (for all 7 seats) that are not too exxy?

Also, for floor protection I'm thinking of getting a few metres of marine carpet or similar from Bunnings and cutting it to shape, but I'd be interested in what others have done, or any advice etc?

I'm in NSW.

I recommend the Bunnings or similar carpet. Muddy dirt bike and a kid the original carpet is in new condition. If I was to do it again I would go with the rubber backed carpet and only cut it to size after I found ideal position that the seats like to be in.

I found a towel under child seats made for easy clean up. Plus a few well placed cloths in easy reach for the emergencies.

Thanks Husky310, that's great advice. Didn't think about putting towels down but that's definitely a goer. I get what you mean about waiting till the seating positions are locked in - we're still working on that. I'll look into the rubber backed carpet too. Cheers

I just picked up a T6 TDI400 from the Dealer on Friday and it has a rubber floor but they also supplied thick rubber floor mats. Surely they have this for the multivan as well?

Seat covers are only good for a trip where there is a chance of spillage , as a motor trimmer of 40plus years experience the LAST thing I would do to any car that I have owned during these years would be to put seat covers over the originals . First leather seats are easily scratched so if you fit covers that are porous the dirt goes through onto the leather and then the movement will result in scratched leather plus the covers will dry out the natural oils in the leather . Cloth trim much the same the fine dust not only soils the trim but gets into the fibres and this cuts the fine threads . Also sheepskin can cause their own problems if they are too tight as they will shrink it will cause folds at the edges of the covers in leather or cloth , these folds can cause permanent damage as they will wear on the top of the fold . Sheepskin over cloth trim long term can cause the fabric to just rot away if left on too long . We had an expensive model car into our shop from an auction dealer they asked us to remove the sheepskins as it would look better for resale . Horror sight when the sheepskins were removed the original covers were completely destroyed . I ride dirt bikes and use ours to go camping and carry the gear etc , what I have done is to make up a full floor carpet cover , it covers the rear floor and goes up the sides 500mm plus a fold out piece at the tailgate and side door . I just shake it out at end of trip fold it up and put away for next trip . With seat covers if I was to get in the van dirty I would as Husky says put a towel under your butt etc. The carpet for the floor is boot liner its only a few mm thick but keeps the dirt off the original carpets . There are some canvas covers on ebay I think but they would be for the most extreme conditions like wet surfers and grubby miners [no not minors as in kids ] but it would still work for those .

My T6 Comfortline Multivan has a carpet floor. Floor mats (front seats only) are an optional extra, but I got 8m2 of marine carpet to line the whole van for half the price

Thanks for the inside info, Sunny! My Multivan has cloth trim seats, and I'm expecting plenty of spillages in coming years, and soggy/sandy kids. My minors often resemble wet surfers and grubby miners, which is why I went for cotton canvas seat covers. Best price I could find was Sperling brand through supercheap auto, custom made for all 7 seats, waterproof and washable. I may rip them off once the kids are older, but I'm confident they are the right option for now - kids are already trashing the place after just one month!

And just for the record, I'm freaking loving this van!

On that note Sunny, i have a T5 with cloth seats and vinyl trim. The vinyl is cracking in places as its prone to do. Is there a solution for this long term?

The best answer is a trip to your local motor trimmer to do any repairs . The problem with vinyl is that it only has limited number of flexes before it starts to break down . Plus because you sort of have to slide over the edges of your seats it is where the wear will start first .Vinyl is impervious to any kind of reviver etc so it is a waste of time .

I have just purchase a Multivan T5 2014 last week and it came with mats labelled BRANDRUP - Velour carpets Volkswagen T6/T5
The centre mat is really well designed as it fits between the rails and is held in place by semi rigid velro strips that tuck into the original trim. I have no idea where they were sourced from in Aus.

They are a German company supplying to VW and Mercedes they have online stores in France and Germany so I would imagine the ones you have were through VW in Germany and then imported to Aus . How much were they or did the dealer toss them in with the deal .
