Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • V Tech ECU flash tune

    Hi all,

Finally got my T5 128kw 4 Motion van V Tech Stage 1 flash tuned today by Eurocar Upgrades on the Sunshine Coast Queensland!
V Tech is a well known & popular European tune.
Apparently it is now 148kw & with almost 500 Newtons of torque - certainly feels like it!
First gear now pretty much obsolete & now pulls up most hills fully laden, on the highway, with a lot more ease.
They also rectified stupid DPF problem(frequent, vast amounts of white DPF cleanout smoke) along with an airbag issue!
    Fuel economy & opinion TBA.

VERDICT: With the added torque, I am able to cruise at substantially lower rpm. Acceleration - goes like hell! Fuel economy has increased by approximately 15 - 20%, so the amount of kilometres I do per week I estimate it will take around 2 years to recoup the cost of the flash tune through fuel saving.
Was it worth the expense - hell yeah!

2008 SWB. I believe only the 4 Motion, for that model, had the DPF!
Total embarrassment, stopped at traffic lights & the ECU decides it's time to burn out the diesel soot in the DPF. It also happened driving into a basement carpark to meet a client!
Anyway, that problem is behind me now.

Doesn't that seem a bit odd two burns that close together or was there a time difference .
