Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Heater Not Working - 09 T5 Multivan

    Hey fellas,

My 09 Multivan has 165K on it now and the heater seems to have stopped working. Rear passenger heat works but no heat coming out of dash. Not sure how long this has been happening as have not really used heat over summer, but now its getting cooler my feet are starting to get cold! What I did notice a few times during summer when AC was on was that it would blow warm out the dash for a few seconds then back to cool. This happened randomly and maybe only once per trip. I'm guessing one of the electric motors in the dash has crapped out and is either in the closed or open position.

Anyone else had this problem and found a solution?

My 08 Beach just developed a problem where AC doesn't work on speeds 1 & 2, only on 3 & 4. The first sign something was amiss was when only hot air would pump out. That seems to have settled, however it blows cold air really noisily but I haven't as yet checked heat...1st world problems hey...anyhow turns out the switch is stuffed so I've got to get one installed, another $200 gone! Wonder how hard it is to fit?

I'd be happy if mine was a $200 switch. I think the Beach and Multilvan use different control systems.
