Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Here's a quick review of the T6 Multivan by Caradvice sampled in Europe.

The TDI450 sounds just like what I need.

I reckon theres a lot of T3 going on with the styling of the T6! Not a bad thing.

Let's hope it's not another disappointment like the T5. Australian T6 buyers beware. Don't buy the automatics. In Europe nobody buys the VW T models in automatic in fact my uncle in Europe who has a mechanic electrical car workshop has never ever worked on one in 30 plus years of business and has never even seen one. VW just sucks at automatics.

VW would be better of just reverting all its production lines back to the T4 manual TDI diesel and just improving that instead of inventing new T models. Basically all T5 multivans pre 2010 are ones I'd did not want to touch and the only one I Would consider is the T5 2 litre TDI. But in Europe people are basically saying that the T4 TDI 2.5 manual goes for a million kilometres and the the T5 will die at 250000 kilometres.

VW basically needs to win our trust again with a reliable car because they have literally broken my heart with what they are offloading onto people. The T5 becomes a rust bucket within 10 years, I nearly cried when I saw this. Let's face it if they were good cars that did not break and cost a fortune to maintain everybody in Australia would be driving one as it's the ultimate Family car.

Its time VW lifted their game. Sustainability is not about creating short life recyclable vehicles, it's about creating vehicles that last for 20 years and don't break. Any smart person understands this.

If reliability was #1 for everyone, then we would all be driving Hi-Ace.

While i do not wish to see my T5 broken down, reliability is not at the top of my list. Safety, performance, handling, comfort, refinement, etc., comes into consideration.

I really can't complain about the reliability of my 2005 T5 4Motion. Except 1 leaking water pump over almost 150,000km, it's as reliable as it gets. Ironically, the automatic transmission in T5s is made by Asin (30% owned and controlled by Toyota) - https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&r..._MGxGKDNUwBbqQ

The 2004-2010 T5 Aisin six speed torque converter auto is quite a smooth gearbox, it's main issue was the lack of a routine maintenance schedule for servicing according to the book/VW which was the massive error. My own manual states no transmission servicing at all. I'd love to know if the same box was used in other brands and what their servicing guidelines were. My own van has passed 250,000km and the camshaft and transmission were the major problems.

I wish VW Australia would bl#*dy hurry up and release the specs/pricing of T6.

I thought they are already here. With their 1.6L CR engine, it seems to me a bit asthmatic and could get very tired and worn out, while still very young.
