  • Removing rear coil springs on T5 dual cab

Hi, does anyone know how to remove the rear coil springs on an 09 transporter dual cab? I tried yesterday, but my spring compressors are too weak(made for car springs). I am trying to fit coil air bags to help when loaded.
    Any replies appreciated.

Not sure if they are the same as the van but I have done our two T5 vans with new coilovers and removing the old ones was a breeze . Jack up vehicle remove shock then use a second jack to lower the rear control arm it will swing down far enough to get the spring out with no compressors at all . In fact once the control arm is down it will nearly fall out on it's own .

      Yep.

Spring compressors are useless for something like this. As per above, take the weight off the shock with a jack, remove the bottom bolt, and lower the arm down a bit. The springs are only just captive at full drop as it is, so you shouldn't have to lower the arm too far to get it out.
