Ideas on how to load pallet into tailgated T5?

I happened to discover that South Yarra VW Commercial Centre is in Church St Richmond and popped in for a visit.

Turns out they have 2 LWB T5's 4 motion, DSG's, white with lots of options like 2nd a/c, rhs sliding doors, both glassed, upgraded front seats etc...BUT tailgates. So my fellow van drivers, does anyone know of a simple engineering solution to load a pallet by forklift that I might be able to investigate (apart from carrying fork extension slippers). I'm certain I could get a great deal, it's not like T6's are so massively improved from what I read apart from a 150kW tdi and dash upgrade, these current T5gp's are heavily optioned and so limited buyers I would assume...it's also not long to go before local T6 pricing/specs are out.

It's going to be iffy, and possibly costly no matter which you attack it.

You could look into low-profile pallet jacks that can fit under the tailgate.

The tailgate on them is tall, so natually it opens out a fair way, needing longer tines if using a regular forklift.

Some type of pallet sized frame that can roll out under the tailgate?

I think almost any engineered solution would consume the initial savings on the van.

It is possible to convert from a tailgate to barn doors - again, it might not be worth the cost.

This is what I was thinking. Where I thought I might save is the fact these two vans were very heavily optioned including 4motion/dsg, 2nd a/c etc...mind you I've found fork tine extensions on ebay for $200 so could always carry these in the van when at a site where they don't have their own... frankly as each day goes by I'm more "interested" in the potential of a 150kW/450Nm T6...

We don't allow a 3rd party to put "accessories" on any of our equipment. Either we supply all our own junk or the other party supplies their own package (crane & slings, divers with their own boats & equipment, confined space guys bring their own rescue equipment). Occasionally we mix'n'match with our prime contractor but we work 5 days/week with them & their doco aligns with our safety systems.

If your tyne extensions on our forklift caused an issue then w'd be running around like chooks trying to work out who to point the finger at

Can you not load a pallet into the side via the sliding door?

Chep's are about 118mm wide and then you need some extra space, plus I need a second row of seats. Thanks for the replies....I'm going to wait for T6 and the new Vito.
