Yes they have a bit of cheek putting T6 on what is essentially and upgrade from the T5 . Unlike the T4 to T5 change where it was a complete and utter body & mechanical overhaul . I wonder if the Turbo 2.0 petrol will come this time , there have been a few times over the years that I had considered an aftermarket turbo to my 2.0 petrol , but now as its got over 260000kays on the clock a turbo would probably be an engine killer . VW pulled a swifty with the 2.0 petrol they released in 2004 as they put an engine output figure which was supposed to match the old outgoing 2.5 petrol , in reality all they did was add fuel injection and lower the final drive ratio . So a 2.5 at 100 kays is ticking over at 2800 rpm the 2.0 at 100 kays is running at nearly 3200 rpm .
Problem for me is no auto Trafic is coming, no Transit auto yet and iLoad isn't as big while in a Hiace my elbow and shoulders touch the side glass and it doesn't compare in safety. And I'd like awd, which only leaves the new Vito and new (not so new) T6.
Trouble with Hi Ace is they like to do ballerina pirouette , I drove a friends one day and went around a roundabout the damn thing nearly caused a trouser accident as it just lifted the inside rear wheel clean off the ground .
Hi Ace not really on my list as I use my van as our second car at home including snow trips etc...I'm happy to pay more for best driving dynamics and full suite of safety features.
A hell of a lot of new technology in the T6 engine , but what worries me is how fragile all this technology is . Can the consumer get that warm fuzzy feeling or will the engines be a heart breaker , just read about the turbo and DPF etc seems like a whole load of trouble coming our way .
