As Revhead said don't trust the light as I found out with our older T4 years ago , dealer told us the pads would need doing at the next service which was 15000 km further along but the pad hit the metal less than 1200 km later . I blew my stack for their stupidity as it stuffed the rotor which we could have still used as it did not have much of a lip on the rotor . They ended up doing the new discs and rotors "at cost "which in those days was $1250 . I never got any dealer to do my brake work after that incident . As for the light I did my mates T5.1 the other week and it does not have the pad warning system anymore cheapskape VW . Seemed a waste cutting off the sensors as they could not be connected to anything .
