Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • A New T6 in 2015.

Maybe it's really coming in 2015... VW Transporter - Next Generation 2015 Volkswagen Transporter
a year after Ford Transit and Renault Traffic hit the market. It could be a good think to wait and the experts are saying that both could look pale next to a new Transporter.

Saw the new Vauxhall van the other week in an auto industry post , first glance the angle the photo was taken from was not flattering to the van's look . I would be a bit skeptical VW are that close to a new model being they run most models for at least 14 plus years based on the T4 being produced from 1990 to 2004 . But I am probably wrong faced with such competition from all the new comers they may need to release earlier than usual to stay competitive . PS used to own a Holden Bedford CF van back in the late 70's Holden 6 cylinder engine with 3 speed auto was a great van .

Might consider upgrading to a run-out T5GP while mine is still worth something.

I won't even go down the path of trading it in through the dealership.

Better off selling it privately at a good price, than having the dealership chuck offers around at 50% of what you could actually sell it for.

Looks are a little similar to the new Vauxhall seen here but maybe not as radical New 2014 Vauxhall Vivaro: full details and pics revealed | Auto Express

The article mentioned V6 TDI with 230HP.
                I hope they're right.

I wouldn't hold your breath on the V6 option in Australia with VWA policy on models I would imagine it would be a special order only .It took VWA nearly 30 years before they imported the VW Sirroco and now it seems it may be doomed anyway in AUS .

They're simply not shifting enough Sciroccos to make them viable.

I am certain once they stop, the SEVS-complied ones will hit the market again.

I saw the Sirocco back in England whilst on holidays back in 1984 and even then they were a good looker but for some reason VWA seem to think Bora's and Passat's would be preferred by Aussies lets face they have swamped the market with so many models now one of them is inevitably going to be squashed out of the market .

Looks like most of these links are built off the article stub in Autobild. And the focal point of the article for me is the claim that VW are gunning for lower costs so the T6 will get engines and transmissions derived from what we are already seeing in the Golf and Passat and simply be a mild workover of the T5. No new chassis or major styling modifications until the next generation in 2020 (or so) when it has to comply with revised EU pedestrian protection regulations.

Yes I thought it might be a bit too soon for a complete remake , shame part is that with all these new rules there is usually a trade off in technology problems lets face it look back at the last few upgrades . DMF failures DPF failures and associated problems and lucky for us with vans so far DSG problems all in the name of technological advances . I suppose it could have been worse TSI in Golfs that was a disaster .
