I have a 2012 TD1340 Comfortline Multivan with about 18 months left on the warranty. Am I correct in assuming that things like interior light bulbs are not covered under the warranty? One of the bulbs in the lights that sit just inside the tailgate has blown.

That's right; the globes, fuses, wiper blades, brake pads etc. aren't covered. It shouldn't be that hard to replace the globe, sometimes you find info how to do it in your user's manual.

If you are talking about the one in the roof they pop out easy I have replaced all our inside bulbs with LED so much whiter and brighter . some here on Ebay or you can buy them from Repco for a bit more money .Car Interior LED Lights | eBay One note of caution due to VW electronics the leds remain lit when you are driving but they so low you do not notice , same when parked with doors open if you have them in the "off " position they are still low lit but they go out after several minutes so battery drain is not a problem .

My drivers side DRL kept blowing every 10,000km. The dealer kept replacing them for free.
At 60,000km I said this is enough.....the same globe should not keep blowing every 10,000km.
They replaced the headlamp assembly, and it hasn't blown since.
