  • 2006 4motion "limp" mode??

Hi my T5 occasionally goes into what I think is limp mode, loss of power, and won't do more than about 30ks.
Usually its when I'm either on the highway, normally on cruise, and have to hit the brakes or change down, eg a kangaroo hops onto rd. Or Ive been going up a steep windy rd and it just happens.
Spoke to my mechanic about it, who hooked it up to the computer with no show of limp mode. He offered no other advice!!

Its not a regular occurrence but once is enough. Pulling over and turning off the engine fixes it,
    Any advice would be appreciated.

From previous postings on similar problem it can be a couple of things I used to think it was the Auto in ours going into limp mode as we used to slow down and turn a corner then we were faced with a steep uphill climb that would trigger limp mode . Then some more wiser men than I have posted it can be the turbo failing to spool up which then causes the onboard computer to hiccup and then activate limp mode there are a few more so sit back and I am sure the more mechanicaly minded members will point you in the right direction .

Well then turbo would be the first port of call no reason to bring the gear box into the equation .

          and

also, search on here, there should be more than a few posts about it.

Was it a VW specific code reader or a generic?
AFAIK, generics may not pull up all codes

It also could be an exhaust restriction, triggering limp mode under full boost. Possibly a disintegrating CAT or DPF?
