  • 2010 128kw manual has lost drive

Went to take off tonight and heard a clunk and have now lost drive to the wheels. Clutch seems to be fine and it's selecting gears successfully to no avail. Van can be rolled whilst in gear and clutch out.
    Thoughts anyone? Driveshaft maybe?

Is it still under the warranty? Did you speak to your dealer? How many km?

It looks like the driveshaft but needs to be looked to be sure.

Failed DMF maybe ?? Dual Mass Flywheel the funny round thing with springs inside designed to take the vibration out of manuals . But hey I am not sure if they fail in this manner only from what I have read on The Brickyard they do fail .

It's done a 113k, warranty expired in April. It's been towed to a mates workshop, so should be on the hoist by Tuesday for an answer.
Won't take it back to VW doubt they'd honour it, was enough dramas getting them to change EGR valve just out of warranty.
          I'm hoping driveshaft, fingers crossed

I wonder if they still have that problem with the stripped splines on the stub shaft in the gearbox?

You could be right Umai I have read about that as well , seems VW may have made them a bit light on strength and tolerance if they shear them off that easily .

Hi guys, managed to get it up on the hoist tonight and confirmed that it is the driver side drive shaft where it slides over stub axle from gearbox.

You can replace the bit that has failed.

Pull the driveshaft out, undo the centre bolt in the output flange, and it will come out revealing the stripped spline.
