  • Odd Fan Problem

    Hi Folks, been a while.

Can any-one give me a hint on why my interior fan has decided to only work on the number 4 (fastest) setting. It's a 2007 Trakkadu 4Motion 128Kw (ie Transporter base, not Multivan). Is it likely to be just a computer glich (seems an odd failure though)? It's due for a service in about 2000Km, but I won't be near any-one with diagnostics before then.

    Fan speed resistor is dead.

As the name implies, it provides a resistance to the electrical current, to give you the slower fan speeds.

If its part of the fan it is around $500 plus from VW mine was going slower and slower until I pulled it apart cleaned up the armature and refaced the brushes , ridiculous part was that the same fan from China is around $30 but you need to buy 100 to get that price .
