  • Auto gear box faults

I am still trying to sort out this transporter auto box its just had another oil change & filter this time with full synthetic $70 + worth of new oil again this time I fired it up with the oil pan off trying to drain the convertor I got an extra 200+ cc out of the system I did that 3 times running for 5 seconds at a time so as not to run anything dry & it worked .
I then let it stand for 1/2 hour while I had a cuppa fitted the new filter & bolted the tranny sump up & refilled it through the drain hole with a modifyed weed spray 5 Lt spray pump & some screw in fittings with clear plastic hose I can see the oil going to or from the box .
so i fill till it runs back when I dump the preeure out of the spray tank that tells me when it stops running back its full .
I run the engine with the trany in 1 st gear & keep filling till its full to the top of its tube with the engine running till its stopped running back again thats it put the plug in & the jobs done .
I took a peek in the Cat convertor while I was under the thing & could get to see inside & yes the mesh was blocked with carbon but not bad I cleaned it as best I could bolted it back up & promiced it a good flogging to bake it out with high tempratures on the freeway for a change .
Road test shifts were still a bit harsh but it felt better just needs a trip to get the tempratures up & make this new oil work .
I will take some temprature shots with my lazer thermo just for the hell of it I know my air to oil cooler takes 15C from the oil on the way through .
now see if I can drag thoes pictures in here out of flicker .

      It's an 03 T4 IIRC
I'm not real sure on running the engine with the gearbox sump off and no oil feed.

Doesn't the T4 have a level tube on the sump plug like the T5?
Engine off, fill till it drips out of sump plug opening.
Start engine, run through each gear, continue filling till it drips out again, is my understanding.

      Mine at 75K

Looks like you caught it just in time some of your openings still seem clear ours was totally blocked with decent build up of debris .
