  • Equipment Ramp for a T5 LWB mainly rear door access

Hoping someone can give me some advice.
I am already following up the Roland Priestley suggestion but it may be a more expensive product than I require? Saying that, maybe it is still the best possible option?
There is a cheap 6 foot option on ebay.
I find that I can no longer lift heavier equipment like my wheeled compressor into and out of the van.
So I would like to start carrying a ramp with me.
I could use it on the side door (500mm height) but it will more likely be used with the rear door (550mm height).
Going back to the Roland Priestly option, it seems that the Utility Multifolding ramp would be better for my purpose than the side door ramp.
    Thankyou

We have a Roland Priestly ramp on the inside at the back of our van as we have two disabled kids in wheelchairs ours folds up and self stores takes up only a tiny amount of floor space and can be removed by undoing a couple of bolt-screws ,it is sold as a side door ramp but works at the back just fine I will post a pic showing if it helps .

Thanks very much Sunny43.5, I would appreciate that pic very much.
It has been several of your posts I have found about the Roland Priestly.
But I assume you are only entering through the side door?
I've got a 2 + 1 rear seat configuration (foldable & removeable) that sort of gets in the way of using the side door which is why I usually use the rear door. Image attached (I hope

Okay here are the photos as promised 1. Folded up inside
[IMG][/IMG] Folded out From inside looking back [IMG][/IMG] The ramp fitted to this van is a longer version than our first one has it is easier to load with a lower angle plus the van has been lowered by 50ml.

Thankyou very much for making the time to provide the pics Sunny43.5.
Is your model the fixed rear door one (not a side door fixed to the rear)? I thought it might have folded back against the inside wall of the van rather than partly blocking the rear access.
I will only need to use my ramp from time to time for large equipment (say every 2 weeks) and while usualy it would be from the rear it is possible I might need to use the side door. For me maybe the more portable Utility Multifold might be a better choice. It is what the supplier has recommemded.
When you said this was a longer version, how long is it? Roland Priestly came back to me (on the weekend ) and said for my 550mm height they recommended the 6 foot length.
For anyone else interested, they cannot supply to Melbourne.
I need to go through Mobility Care who also got back to me on the weekend
Now I just have to convince myself to pay $1,000 plus for occasional use rather than under $200 for the ebay one and take a chance.

PS - I love your internal fitout which I have also read about on that separate thread.

Thanks for the comments , the ramp is sold as a side door ramp but its fitted to the back as it works for us this way and yes this one is the 6 footer , as you can see the ramp takes up minimal space at the side when folded and is as far back as it can . Howard

I have decided to go with a cheaper option for the time being. As I have no ramp at all and have never really used one, didn't want to spend over $1,000 and then find it wasn't what I needed. I still very much appreciate the feedback about the Roland Priestly product so thankyou again for that.
There were a couple of 6 footers under $200 on ebay. I ended up with going with Joplin from Granville NSW.
I went with their Aluminium Multi-Purpose Ramp which you can get for less at $176 on ebay + freight to Melbourne $22
This is just a 2 fold. They have a 4 fold product as well but it's not listed on ebay.
I needed a portable product as I could enter via the side or rear door.
I don't expect this to be as good as the Roland Priestly product. But it may be all I ever need for just equipment. If I required a ramp for wheel chair access I would have chosen the Roland Priestly product.

Glad you made the decision that works for you , we never need to remove our ramp unless it was part of a sale of the vehicle at some time in the future , as rear loading is way easier to just wheel the chairs into place .

Posting a couple of (not so good - phone camera doesn't seem to cope with the ramps horiz lines) pics of the cheapish ebay ramp I ended up getting.
                  Ramp 1
                  Ramp 2
                  Ramp 3
                  It does the job.
It's big and clunky - long and heavy.
If you were using it every day and you could afford it, you should look at the more expensive but probably much better option already mentioned.
For me with occassional use for getting heavy equipment in that I just can't lift anymore, it does the job - anymore would have been overkill - that said I still look longingly at the pictures of the qualilty unit posted above

Looks good as long as you are happy and it fits the bill then I think you will be happy the more you use it .
