Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Possibly the most ugly car I have seen.

If they did a Multivan version it would be ok that it was that ugly as I would only get to see the outside via reflection when driving past shop windows!

Well, I have seen ugly cars and vans from every manufacturer. It is amazing what designers consider "good looking".

Looks aside, from the information, the lack of an automatic transmission is not good.

No, no, the ugliest would have to be the Rukus.

The engine is nothing to be excited about either and the fuel economy could be much better for its CC.

From a styling point of view I reckon Toyota have lost their way in recent years. In my opinion the 200 series Landcruiser is step back from the 100 series.[looks obese] The Prados after the ones from around 2000 grew rocket style tail lights. The Yaris is ugly & the Corolla seems to get worse with its plastic bulges on headlights & tail lights. Maybe I am stuck in time as I know some people don't mind the latest styles but it would need to be exceptional in all other areas for me to even consider buying them.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

I think it is the US influence, the RAV4 is onother example of a bulbous bloated more recent model. I had a 2002 RAV4 and on the Rav forums there was constant whining from US people about how they hope the next model will be bigger, have bigger engine etc, that's all they think about.

what car of that size could get better than 1200klms out of an 80 liter tank? not too bad if you ask me.

i wonder why 2 motors of same capacity could have such different power outputs? mayby turbo and non turbo?

Its just a rebadged Peugeot Expert/Citroen Dispatch/Fiat Scudo (Sevel is the alliance between Fiat and PSA) van - Touota and PSA have an alliance in Europe.

I doubt we will see this here.

I was going to say in my earlier post that it kinda looks french but I was thinking Renault. There is also some Fiat Ducato influence there too.

Good pick up there Transporter it certainly is the same van , naturally engine and tranny specs would vary from different countries . Toyota used to sell the Hi Ace SBV van here so who knows lets face it the current Hi Ace is an awful square box on wheels it has no redeeming features , but in saying that they are popular but then the owners of those probably have never driven a VW van so they do not know what they are missing [ VW problems aside ] The Maxus is due for release in January 2013 I would imagine this will have an impact on Hyundai not sure how VW will react as they have their Runner model

Form that same site, I think the Ford Transit Custom Automotive Tv would be my pick if i didn't decide on a Vw T6. If Ford dropped the 3.2 tdi as used in the new Ranger in there my decision would be even more swayed over....

That's a pretty good looker should give all van makers a run for their money as long as the Aussie importers don,t do what they did in the old days they had some models with a V4 configuration engine that wouldn,t pull a sick boy off your sister !!! Then like GM - Bedford they slammed a six cylinder engine into them .

What impresses is the cabin layout and features suited to delivery/"road office" situations. I think the planned engines are carry overs of the current model so less powerful then the 132kW VW, but the biggest bummer could be no auto. The full size Transit to replace US E series vans is getting a 270kW turbo V6, which just might be enough, lol...
