  • T5 heater blower fan

Hi guys any one got some links to places to buy new 2004 T5 heater fan -blower , mine still works but only at low speed makes electrical noises at high speed have removed it and the carbon brushes are worn right down . I was able to with a small amount of difficulty remove and inspect one of the brushes . Now typically VW only sell complete new fans what happened to the days when you could just remove the old brushes and fit new ones . Probably got to pay hundreds of dollars for the sake of $10 worth of carbon brushes . Thanks in advance .

Is it possible to adapt some brushes from something else? The brushes on the starter of my garden tractor were worn out with no chance of buying new ones. An auto electrician I know who's into restorations had a box of brushes that he filed down to fit, works perfectly. I have recently changed the brushes on our Bosch front loader washing machine. These are the first items to wear out on that machine, so much so that the brushes are sold on Ebay. Maybe something out of some whitegoods will fit.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

Yes I had considered doing that as carbon brushes can be easily moulded , the main problem is that to remove the fan blower is apiece of cake just afew screws unfortunatly the same cannot be said for the other bits the actual fan blades are mounted on the main shaft and it appears to be pressed onto the shaft I did try to remove it but was abit concerned it would break . If it would come out the brushes would be easy fixed , I did get one out pig of a job as they are right under the fan blades and there is a tiny spring which needs to be relocated to hold the brush in place you need three hands and more space to achieve this as the blade spins making the job a challenge . But hey I will give it another try soon , let you know how it goes .
