Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    T5 front suspension replacement

    After wasting a whole day having my T5 at S&T Autos Enfield South Australia for new front struts to be installed, quoted me 500 to install my supplied front and rear suspension.I recieved a phone call from new owner ! who i thought was the apprentice !!. The little boy told me they cannot install units because they are adjustable !. what an idiot! i went to pickup car and it turns out that they had no idea how to do it !!!. they said they would have to take the whole dashboard out to remove the front struts.
    Dont go there if you love your car.
    Does anyone have a suggestion on where to take my van to have this fitted in Adelaide ?.

    For a start you only have to remove the plastic cover where the wipers are to access the top bolt of the struts as I had mine off on the weekend to get the gear box out as you have to lower the main frame that the whole front end is held onto . I cant help with the bottom mounts but it would not be that hard I am sure .
