  • Front Row two passenger seats.

    Hello everyone,
I recently bought VW Transporter T5 2005 model and I got only two seats that is Drive and one passenger.
I have seen online people selling two seats for the front row. Wondering if someone know where I can take my van and they fit this twin seat on my van.
I am not an auto mechanic so i need installation as well.
Any info would be help, thanks.

    Regards
    Ron

The bench seat is a VW option.

Try your local wreckers first. Put a post in the Wanted section. Many people go the other way - that is, take out the bench seat and install two bucket seats.

I think you will find the dual cab T5 ute may have the 3 person configuration for the front row there may be some others as well . At least if you can get the factory seat it should bolt straight in as most of the vans have mounting points for the different seating options . Just remember to get a certification from an approved fitting centre . If you go aftermarket you have to make sure it has been complied and certified to current ADR regulations . I have my doubts any one would make a 3 rd seat option for the T5 as the tooling and testing costs would not make it a profitable thing but I may be wrong .

yes, you can get an aftermarket bench seat for a T5. I looked into it as an option to carry an extra passenger in a std van before we found the crewvan. From memory they weren't all that expensive, hazy on the exact number but I think sub $1000.

Thanks mate, I rang up Techsafe today and they referred me to local installer in Brisbane. Its called Auto Extras 1800 811 626.
They quoted about $1980 inc GST for front seats or cheaper $1380 for 2nd row for a single seat. Still sounds very dear to me.
Just need to hunt for wreckers as KMJ Europarts is out of such seats at the moment.

eBay option will cost me same as they are after $1000 for seat, delivery charges and installation will come to same $2000.

The price is about normal as I used to make extra seats in my old company 12 years ago , you have to remember the building and testing is the most expensive part and you have to get the seats certified by an engineer . I would suggest that if its only the front 3 person set up you are after go with original if you can .At $1500 for the whole lot thats a huge bargain for the ones on Ebay , would be worth a tank and a half of fuel to drive down and pick them up in person.

I had a chance to look up my notepad at work and my memory must be failing me.

My quote a bit cheaper, but same ballpark.

T5 Double Off Road. I switched mine over in a double cab - a single for a double about 2 years ago, all the bolt holes or studs are there under the rubber matting - if you can stay with V W factory seats it will easier for mod-plate approval or whatever you have in your State, the thing that makes non-genuine hard is VW do-not use centre lap strap belts, they use full 3 point shoulder system with recoil all built into the seat - not cheap but safe, (-) one thing the double seat is not the most comfortable for long trips, (+) under is a large storage space with a base for a second battery.
