15000km/1 yr Service Multivan 103kw only covered 8,000km $368 Bryan Byrt VW Mansfield Brisbane. Did not take up any of the additional things they wanted to 'sell' me. The cured the brake squeal I had and that was the only thing I was concerned with over and above the service. They have taken photos of the sun blinds in the sliding door windows which have horizontal white marks on them at regular intervals. Said they would contact VW re this but admitted they had seen it on other vehicles the week before.

I was wondering if anybody else had experienced this?

Yes, mine also has "horizontal white marks" on blind. It is on driver's side sliding door blind. I could not come up with a better theory than maybe they were caused by spilling some cleaning solution or powder into the blind slot during detailing/cleaning.

Wardy, I can send you my photo of it, if it might help, otherwise please let us know what it turns out to be.

Thanks Tg-uan, I will wait to see what kind of response I get from VW and let you know. If they decide to be awkward about it a photograph somebody else with the same problem would be good.

I will let you know how it goes.

            It's expensive.

Work out what it needs, and get quotes.

I bet you the German gov. supports VW more the our gov. supports the locals.

Don't forget to add the Governments (at all levels) of Poland, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, the United States and (almost certainly) the Peoples Republic of China to that list.

But don't pretend for one second that VW is in any way special in that regard...the car industry is up there with the energy industry (in all its forms) when it comes to 'subsidies'.

Back to the OT...(my 180K dealer service only cost me $1,200...and a week...hate to think how long it'd take them to do a T5 )

Yes you are right saw a report just the other day but then our car industry is doomed , Commodores and Falcon's less than ten years ago made up around 60% of cars sold now its 6% between both . It is a sorry state of affairs but we still are such a small population that economically it makes no sense any more to keep propping up something that is not going to recover sales . Lets face it both GM and Ford the majority of all the cars they sell are from another country so its their own fault .

                        Yes maybe, but not financially.
The German politicians are protecting the country interests much better than AU politicians. A good treasurer would never sell the assets. what assets is still in the Australian hands? When they already are selling our land, your future landlord will be Chinese or from the middle east. The rest of it, where all this could lead is not that difficult to see, when you know or read the history for for less than 100 years back.

They gave money to Holden and Ford and didn't do anything else for them.
That would never happen in Germany, when the Government has to bail you out, then that government should be interested how is the company doing and gives the conditions that are attached as part of the deal, and if you don't like it you don't get it. In AU the politicians took it easy and just pumped the taxpayers money in the companies that didn't have any plans for the future of their own. For more than decade both car companies could see the prices of fuel going up and they had no plans for more fuel efficient cars. How bad is that?

T4 with an ACV engine. It goes for a 200K look over & lube tomorrow with my local free agent mechanic who now also has to check out the brakes.

Don't forget every dollar received was matched by $3 by each company. The problem is Australians, as for most of the world don't buy large sedans any more and small cars are built in vast numbers, more cheaply then anyone including Toyota can build here. To be fair to Ford, they have a 2L Ecoboost, dedicated LPG, I6, I6 Turbo and SC V8, so they have all powertrains apart from hybrid covered. Just is no-one is buying large cars like they did 10 years ago. Today's top seller is lucky to reach 4000, what local is going to make money on that volume or worse built a small car here and then sell it overseas?

I decided to book my van at Burwin's as I'm busy and running out of time, doing more driving, 450km just on the outskirts of Melbourne on Friday alone and now at 190K so 2K past the recommendation of the sticker.... Plus the nice service guys have booked an 8speed Amarok for a loaner also allowing if they can't finish it in 1 day.
