Fresh water tank

Hi, I found a thread from last year on this, and just wondering if anyone has any new good ideas for a fresh water tank in my transporter. I was thinking possibly in the side cavity between the outer skin and the internal cover in the rear of the van or possibly an underside one if its sufficiently protcted. I would like to probably add a shower to the van or at least tap to wash face/hands after a dirty day riding the trailbike.

Bleh, as always, looks like there is a supplier in the UK (cak tanks) which makes a tank that fits above the rear wheel arch which looks awesome. As it seems the norm though, their customer support is pathetic and they want more for shipping than the tank is worth.. sigh

There was a fellow who had an underbody tank made in Vic but I can't find the thread... A few options out there now. I'd try Dove Campers in Welshpool.

You can always get an internal wheel arch tank made from alu or stainless.

I've finally gone with water cubes inside my kitchen module with a hand pump and a 12V shower pump for when I'm lazy. It was the simplest, most practical solution and cheap. My Kombi Beach is in its third "reincarnation" and hopefully its last!

I have two 15L cubes in the back under the bed of my kombi beach, each one is fitted with a plastic tap and garden hose fitting for detaching. One is connected at a time to a pump and pipe leading to a tap behind the drivers seat which has a microswitch to operate the pump, and when one tank runs out I can detach it and attach the other one then move the empty one towards the rear door, so it can be filled at the next opportunity. Out west opportunities to get decent water only come along once in a while.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I didn't want to go with an underfloor unit, and the wheel arch option, which looked perfect, is out due to the outrageous frieight charges i was quoted. Ended up with a plain old 55l square poly tank, and am going to fit it in the front right section of the rear.



Any poly experts out there? There is a brace which makes the tank stick out further than it needs to, and i was thinking of getting a heat gun on the tank and using a piece of 2"x1" timber to mould a channel in the tank so it fits snuggly over the brace.

We supply a 55 litre underfloor tank made from SS. Tucks up under the floor nicely.

Pesonaly I would just remove the brace as its main purpose is only to reduce drumming of the metal outer skin , naturally if this was a people mover it should be left as it contributes to side impact , but as its going to be used camping and for water tank storage it would be fine . Also I would put some sort of neoprene or similar against the outer skin to prevent solid contact between the two . The other alternate idea would be to fabricate a wide flat piece of steel around 4 ml thick shape it to turn directly towards the outer and then across the width and return to the other end , this would ease any concerns about side impact but would give you a much flatter brace to mount the tank against.
