Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    hi all,
my son has just purchased an immaculate 128kw 6sp tdi, and as iv'e been nominated as his cheif mechanic, i will be the one to source info on it (allready started a few months ago). apart from typical colour coding, tint, lowering, black wheels, doof doof, pod filter etc., he wants it louder. iv'e noticed it has the large muffler in the middle, then the smaller twin outlet one at the rear. in order to make it breath a little better, which one or should both be removed/replaced. as he is paying part of it off, he can't afford a proper system for a while.
amazing performance compared to his old t4 2.0!

ps. what's the trick to adding pictures?

ps. what's the trick to adding pictures?

Go to Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and upload your pictures.

Then choose the code with [IMG] at the beginning and end of the picture address.

Copy this and paste it into your thread on here.

Its very easy just preview your thread before posting to make sure you are correct before posting.

    Good luck with the modifications.

    Rob

Just remember to tell your son that the more noise it makes the more attention MR Plod takes , a friend of ours who recently turned 17 bought a Hi Ace van after lots of mods lo ride big wheels and exhaust change etc and the obvious loud sound system courtesy of me , after less than 12 months his points were gone and he ended up selling it as it just kept getting attention from the boys in blue . My son currently has a T4 with the 2.5 petrol and luckily he has not attracted the boys in blue,s attention as it runs a stock exhaust , I seemed to have finally convinced him that noise is not neccesarily the best , the van also has alloys etc but they are not the type which the police would target as they are 17,s with normal profile tyres not the rubber bands some guys run with ridiculously oversized rims . You just have to convince him that the loud noise is not all good for the hip pocket .Howard http://

thanks rob, looks like i got the picture thing working
sorry howard, he doesn't want it loud, just a bit of a note and to free up the breathing some. trying to convince him that a pod filter will only work if it is sealed off from the engine bay heat. and yes, the redlands cops are certainly putting the heat on the kids at the moment. son is still trying to learn how to drive the diesel after the petrol, very different beast. eric
