  • towing a boat with a 2.5ltr LWB t4

    Hi Guys

Looking for some advice. I recently bought a half cabin boat from a friend. I have towed it back from his place in the northern beaches with the van. I am concerned about towing it for long drives away max 3 hours away, also do you think it will be able to handle the boat ramps. The van is a 2.5ltr petrol lWB 1997 t4. I have been thinking about getting rid of the van and getting a 4x4 but van is so handy for weekends away etc.

    Many thanks.

My son has a 2.5 petrol T4 and I would suggest that it will be more than able to do the job . Naturally if you find it struggles to get the boat off a ramp then you would need to reconsider . Howard

I have a SWB 2.5 petrol T4 and it has no problems towing, or launching and retrieving. It is only a 4m aluminium runabout but I am confident it will tow something quite a bit heavier. It will tow to 2000kg with a braked trailer. My regular ramp is pretty slippery and I haven't had any problems. I also tow (not at the same time!) a 5 x 7 box trailer, fully laden with firewood or gravel and you would hardly know it's there.
