      Once it arrives and you have fitted it.

        I have since learnt that the CANBUS integrated video in motion uses a value sent from the controller that relates to the speed of the vehicle in motion. This value is in the RNS, and can be overwritten now with a 'crack' piece of software. The MKV/VI boys are all over it.

          Only goes to show how complicated this technology is , the Can Bus obviously relies on speed pulses to sense forward movement to disable video . I have said it before do we really have our driving experience enriched by some of this technology Can Bus etc as everyone knows how tempermental electronics can be . Lets face it in the good old days our cars were simple in design and all we had to deal with were simple ideas that just worked !!! .
          I recently worked on a Peugot I had to replace the sunroof motor , held in with two screws and one plug simple job you would think . WRONG the stupid electronics in the car detected the new motor which was an original part by the way and basicly decided it did not want to work with the new motor , end result was the damn thing had to go to Peugot to be connected to something called "Planet Peugot" so the onboard computer could be told that a new sunroof motor was fitted then it would work . If this sort of thing is the future the day will come when we cant do a thing to our cars as the manufacturers will have made the cars detect any changes and disable them , their reasoning would be that they are making cars safer . Sorry to rant but this sort of technology sucks!!!!!! Howard

            I hear what you are saying Howard - it can be complicated.

            I come from another school where this technology was what I thought the future was going to be like. Growing up with Technic Lego and motorised components as a youngster, I never thought when we had a family Nissan Bluebird in the mid 80's that this is what we would be discussing today.

            As time goes on I am learning more and more about the new technology and find that once you understand it there is a lot for it. My goal for the RNS is to have it in a 2005 model car with the same features as a MY2011. I know that sounds ambitious, but, it's a challenge I have thrown down to myself.

            And I know if I want something simple, I can play with my MK1!
