We have lost one of our keys so need to get another. Any idea what a new key will cost?

As well as checking with VW dealer see if you have a MR Minit shop in one of the shopping centers , I was able to get my sons T4 key recoded for free at our local Mr Mnit shop , they also have a range of original equipment style keys not sure if they have VW ones so just check them out ours was really helpful and price would be cheaper than dealer . I had a "beach key" made at my local locksmiths and he charged me 40 bucks for the privilege. Another fellow down the road wanted 70 bucks for the same key. As a beach key doesn't have any electronics and wont start the car I'd hate to think what a key with a transponder would cost. I'd be thinking 130 to 150 bucks . Good luck!

Again I would still suggest Mr Minit as they may have blank keys that they can recode , as I said earlier after we did an engine transplant the donor van would not start until the key from the other van was placed next to the ignition barrel . The guy at Mr Minit just inserted the key that hade the correct code into a code reader pressed one button removed that key inserted the non starting key pressed another button and hey presto the key then started the van took 30 seconds and did not charge [I went back a day later and gave the guy 20 bucks for his trouble ] Howard

Thanks for the info fellas.
I rang VW, they have 2 options, first is standard key and by the time you buy it and get it cut and trans-coded it will be over $500. The second option is an electronic key that will unlock and start the car but will not lock/unlock via remote. Basically, stick the key in the door to lock and unlock.
I'm going to do a bit more looking around and see what I can come up with.2014 T5.1 Multivan Tuned by Pendle Performance Australia

Cheers mate, I will give him a call.
I have found a source for a replacement key that needs to be cut and I can then (according to utoob) pair it with my van. But it will still need to be coded with the van to start the engine.2014 T5.1 Multivan Tuned by Pendle Performance Australia
