My brand new van has an oil leak. I took it back to the dealer (whom I do not blame) to get the oil leak fixed. This should not happen on a new car.
They took the transmission out, and found a deformed rear main seal. So, they ordered a new one and fitted it today. I was desperate to get my van back, as I am heading off to the salt lakes in South Australia for some speed records.
I got the call saying that after a test drive, the oil leak is still there. I am so pissed at the moment.
My dealer is doing what they can for me, lending me another van.
The guys in the factory next door to me were in the market for a new van, but they have now crossed the VW off their list.

Sorry guys, I just had to vent.....
Sorry to hear that IN2VWS. Did the second leak appear in the same place?

To be honest if i were the guys next door I'd still look at VW's, nothing drives as well and your dealer seems to be helping as much as possible so back-up is good. If we ever got the real warranty records of all manufacturers we would be riding bicycles instead. The dealer/manufacturer support (or lack) after purchase would be my greater criteria for buying a new vehicle in this case. A quick look at the government recall's website will show you how much really goes on including the prestige brands and then add on the "service bulletins" which don't qualify as recalls but need rectification at service time.

the day i picked up my VW I drove to work and saw a broken down transit and a hiace on the back of a recovery truck. EVERY car maker has dodgy cars come off the line, my last ni$$an wasn't totally right off the showroom floor.

Personally, I blame the dealers. we PAY them for pre-delivery when it should just be part of selling a product. Problem is the pre-delivery isn't that good and is usually just a clean. If it's leaking now it was leaking during their test drive. I would imagine that they worry about about problems when it's sold so that VW aus will cover all costs under warranty rather than booking the workshop up for a non customer claim.

anyway, point is. the all do it, they are all crap and in this day and age you are lucky to get a totally faultless new car.
