I have also had yellow lights on and off for the last few weeks. Initially the DPF which fixed itself. Then the diesel coil lamp light began flashing and engine fault warning appeared on the screen --> contact woarkshop. Van also went into "limp mode" (reduced power).
Took it to VW service and the fault code came up as the EGR VALVE. They ordered one and I am having it fitted tomorrow. They said I could continue driving the vehicle.
The other light that has also been on is the yellow picture of an engine. Not flashing. Hopefully this will be fixed when they change the EGR Valve.
There was also another vehicle in the carpark that was waiting on an EGR Valve also.
Not sure if the EGR valve has been fitted to the new T5.2 only? (Can't find much about it on this site).

Oil sludge from blowzy. All cars have some sort of exhaust gas recycling, and as it needs to be controlled, enters through a motorized valve. This and other moving parts are in the firing line from physical interference from the oil blowby sludge buildup, get a catch can people!

...and have the throttle body checked every 30,000km and cleaned every 60,000km or more often. The car is yours, not the dealer's or VW Australia, so neglecting this problem will cost you a lot of money once the warranty is over. Unless you sell it before the 3 years is up.

          EGR Valve was fitted yesterday.
BTW Van has done only 22000km!
The EGR valve had apparently seized and they also had to replace the Exhaust Cooler.
          All work done under warranty.
Hopefully these parts last 10x as long

Not really. Work is 25km away via highway and most of the 22,000km was a trip to WA and back.
If there's anything I'm guilty of its not letting the van warm up enough before giving it some throttle.
Will need to do a gearbox reset after driving around in limp mode for 2 weeks.

OK, engine yellow light has now come on and off three times. finally took it to the VW dealer who saw it straight away. Put VAG Com on it and it came up with an exhaust pressure sensor fault. Pressure sensor probe was replaced on the spot under warranty. Dealer told me that they have a lot of these faults and VW have now changed the maker of the probe? The new probe he fitted has an unlimited K and 2 year warranty. hopefully it will not fail again. Asked him if the particulate filter could be bypassed or removed. He smiled and said it had to remain but he had "heard" of these things being removed but was not sure how successful it had been. There must be a way of removing the bloody thing?

Where there is a will there is a way. The biggest thing im worried about with these bloody DPF's is i do alot of travelling in very remote areas and the last thing i want is limp home mode out in the middle of no where when it ****s itself.

The DPF is reported to be good for 150k, but it depends on how you use it, specifically how hot you get it. If I was going to keep my stock one I'd heatwrap it in the least. The hotter you can get them, the more soot you passively burn off, and the less it needs to force a regen. If you do some highway weekly, you will be fine, it's inner city types that never see beyond start stop traffic at urban limits that need to worry.

That said I do have a pre 100k blocked DPF downstairs I am experimenting on, donated from another less fortunate member!

if we are talking flashing lights, what is a flashing glow plug light? came on at 1800km, rebooted the car (off and on) and it went off.
