  • Holden Wheels on T5 Transporter

ok, i asked this question in the wheel section to no avail...

I want to put some SS rims on my Transporter. The stud pattern is the same and the offeset is within 7mm difference.

Would there be any other reason why they wouldn't fit? The wheels are tyres are load rated the same as I had an SS ute which had the same load capacities...

It was done before, they fit. If you search for it you would find the thread.

Piece of cake, did it to my T5 ages ago using 16's from a VX Calais. The only thing you have to really worry about is the hub centres. Post details are http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f136...s-22970-4.html

Now have them fitted with 205/85 16 to give a much more comfortable ride and has also made the speedo spot on.

          Hi Guys,
I'll be as specific as I can,

You need to swap out the radiused bolts on original vw mags for 60 degree taper bolts (can be hard to find locally but if you persist...)
You need spiggot adaptor rings for the right sizes ( I lucked onto the right sizes on ebay, but was no luck till then) and try and make sure that the mags are fairly heavy duty as getting them with an actual load rating high enough for our vans is unusual unless they came off a vehicle that was as heavy, and can hold as much. Even the crewman 1 ton isn't as heavy, but like the O P I'd be content with the ss/ sv6 mags as they go on the ute, and factory tolerances should easily cover what we'd be likely to ordinarily use. Personally, I have kept the originals in the shed, and had planned to use them if I needed to put a ton in the van for a trip. I have not...
Getting load rated tyres is half the trick in the size you need. I kept it to 18"s as I got Falken 452's in the right size with the right load rating for around $1200. You will be picking yourself up off the floor if you try and get the right size and load in a 19 or god forbid a 20 in something better than a Nexen...
I'm about to put my Van up for sale- if the buyer doesn't want the 18's they might come up for sale here soon...

          Rich.

            Rich...05gtwagonman,
Can you let us know where you managed to find the correct bolts from?
The shop you used might be OZ wide and make things a little easier for other members.
Thanks for your input into this thread it will make others searches easier.
            Cheers Rob

Hey guys I have a set of Holden Wheels on my T5 they came off a Holden Crewman which is also rated at 1Ton being a cheap ass I had Nankang P235/55R17s fiited which are the correct load rating and get an average of 40,000 plus ks out of a set without rotation more if I could bloody remember to get them rotated . The bolts were fitted when I had the tyres fitted from Keith 4 Wheels here in Brisbane he also can get the hub /spacer rings as well to get the rims exactly right . A tip here make sure you keep a set of standard nuts for your spare in case of flat and when you fit the spacer rings a small dose of lubricant will help to remove the spacer when you do need to change a flat as the standard rim wont fit with it in place . I found this out the hard way got a flat in the middle of nowhere in the middle of a stinking hot summers day the spacer ring which had been on there for about 4 years had stuck hard and had to just about destroy it to get the mongrel off to fit spare .
