T5 Multivan owners, whats you range per tank and L/100km range?

Hoping to get an idea of the fuel usage for the New model Multivans both with and without passengers. If i can get enough info I hope to graph the info and post back up for a comparison.

This is for 103kw and 132kw Diesel Engines - (please specify)

Can you post your: Multivan year model and engine type

(A) Maximum range (in km's) from your 80 Litres (full tank)

(B) MFD - Litres per 100 km's

(C) Actual calculated - Litres per 100 Km's

Built 8/2004 T5 128kW 4Motion Van, 80,000km now.

A - 900km was best ever, always a lot of short trips.
B - n/a
C - 9.7L/100 average

Almost always used BP diesel with Moreys Diesel Engine Smoke Killer. Oil changes @ 7,500km.

Our 103kW only has 7,600km on the clock so far and has a running average of 9.1L/100km so far. I always use BP Diesel with no additives.

We average about 800km before filling up and usually do that just before we hit the red part of the guage (which I believe is about 8 - 10L to go). I have seen 900km from a tank and could probably get 1,000km in the right conditions. I'd sugget that the consumption spat out by the MFD is usually within .1 or .2 of what is calculated, but to be fair I haven't paid all that much attention to it since we have an app for that

I don't know if our MFD is out, or if it's just our van, but we're getting way better figures than this.

2006 AXE 2.5TDI (2wd only, no particulate filter)
Best run, Melbourne to Perth with the MFD giving at times estimated range of 1200 (I have a photo somewhere). I think got about 1000km/tank from the middle section.
Average usage, the van does over 1000km/month, mostly longish runs averaging about 7.8l/100km. Sits on about 6/6.5 cruising up the freeway at 100km/h

Found you can change the display by pressing the little button on the right on the window wiper stalk (rhs one). Display can show range, current economy, avg economy, distance remaining and probably other things too, but I can't remember them at the moment.

Oh, fuel - usually from Gull or United as diesel there is generally about 10c/l cheaper than anywhere else

It's all about how you drive. My VR6 is currently sitting on about 14L/100km because it's getting driven 5km each way to the station and back every day, not even enough time to get everything up to temp. If I were to drive it at 80-90km/h everywhere I could see that down to 7.0 - 7.5L / 100km.

My 103 TDI managed about 8.1 or so on it's first 1,000km since it had two blokes with no load and a freeway run from Melbourne to Sydney.

You'll also find a little button on the underside of the stalk which will switch you into trip comp 2, which will reset after much greater distance/time.

2006 transporter, 5 seater, towbar. Usually get around 850-900km per ~70 litres around town.. Best was a trip from Brisbane city to Campbelltown via Nelson Bay. 3 people and a bit of gear and at highway speeds. Fuel light came on about halfway down the M7. I think we put about 77l in the tank for just over 1200km.

I just did a trip from Newcastle to Bullocks flat near Jindabyne and back to Canberra for an actual of 8.6lt/100. 2 adults, 2 kids, snowboards and associated gear. Average 107km/h and 118km/h depending on speed limits. I never run the tank way down low, usually fill up around 700km.

With all city short trip driving we got 11l/100 Km on the last tank. 2005 Highline 4 Motion.

I read that some of you with 4 motion are still getting very good economy
I have never got better than around 11L/100k.
Scan guage shows most trips i get 12.5 avg
Real time i can get it down to around 9 if i cruise at 60kmh in 5th. Every now and then (very rarely) i will get a freak trip where it will show as low as 5.5 cruising at 60kmh. I personnally think this has something to do with DPF.
These are all with an empty van
I have had a remap and still get the same just better performance.
I also replaced the centre mufler with a resonator. This gave better performance but i think it made the economy worse. I dont know why this would happen.

I'm still getting between high 9 and low 10L/100. It mostly depend where I fill up, I try to get my fuel from the same servo. Always use the fuel additive - Moreys Diesel Smoke Killer or Liqui Moly, then every 3,500 -5,0000km BG244.
The van is fully loaded up and short trips only. Using BP Premium diesel for most of 120,000km. Oil changes every 6 months (probably around 6,000km). The van is MY05 4motion made in 8/2004, AXE engine no DPF.
I'm convinced that the fuel economy greatly depends where you buy your fuel, few years ago my daughter spent 3 months in Naracoorte and filled up her Touareg 3.0TDI at BP there, the difference between the Adelaide fuel and from Naracoorte was noticed right away. Now, I've made a trip to Mt. Gambier in my new Amarok and again filled up at the same servo in Naracoorte on the way back, even put 40L in the jerry cans, that was more than 2 weeks ago and still driving on the fuel from jerry cans, I can't wait what the fuel economy will be when I refill.

ours is a 2010 103kw Caravelle, used as passenger transfer vehicle. Sometimes it does long empty drives and sometimes it is fully loaded with full aircon towing a trailer. Since we put the 18s on the fuel economy's suffered a bit.

Best tank was 6.7L/100km. Averaging 7.7L/100km, MFD Trip-2 resets frequently as we are doing about 1300km in it each week. We find the trip computer is very accurate (we use fuelly to track it)
Best tank was nearly 1100km but as soon as we use the trailer it will drop significantly. Looking at the specs - a Caravelle LWB is lighter than the Multivans

Overall very happy with this vehicle. But we do wish it was available as a manual and the 132kw version
