What have you done to your VWCV today??

I didn't do it today, but I spent afternoon and evening replacing water pump in my T5.
(Most of that time was wasted making special tool to hold the water pump gear.)
I was hoping it would never come to it. Over almost 5 years I topped up coolant reservoir with the distilled water twice (1/4L) and I don't think it should need any topping up since it is a closed system. Last week I topped up 1/2L and checked under the oil cap - no signs of water there, so far so good. But on Monday the coolant alarm beeped on me, the red light was flashing I pulled over and checked under the bonnet and swore, the coolant level was under the minimum mark.

Installed the proximity central locking today. Took pwr and earth from the cigarette lighter socket and mounted under the centre console. Works a treat and very simple. Called pierre and he ran me through programming the new key with the V checker. Everything works spot on. Very happy!

The new camera has been installed on the AUX input on the system, so you physically have to switch to the camera before you reverse!!!!!!! It no longer auto switches when you go into reverse

I'm getting tired of this ...

Just been told after three weeks in the dealers that the unit they have installed cannot be used with a reverse parking cameraa unless we want to manually switch to the camera when reversing. I'm fed up!

what are the alternatives for a replacement that others may have seen/installed ...

Why can't it be activated when the reverse lights come on be taking a power feed from there?

It appears to be a matter that the camera is installed onto the AUX video input, not a reversing camera input, so you physically have to switch to the AUX input when you are in reverse.
As a side note a message comes up on the screen to the effect that "due to it being dangerous to watch video when driving the AUX video is disabled" Hmmmm

Replaced rear springs on my T5 and found out that left rear shocker is again leaking oil. It was replaced by the dealer under the warranty at approximately 30,000km.

I used raised King Springs p/n KVRR-18. Difference in height at the back is 50mm - measured on fully loaded van.

Got some Schmick 5 spoke Audi Wheels for my T4 today, as new and will be on tomorrow all going well. Set of Vaults for sale very soon

Yeah i post up tonight, having a spot of T4 trouble this morning which has put some clients out a bit, looking like a crank sensor so ill be out to source one and hopefully get the wheels done too

Got the Multivan windows tinted last weekend. Darker tint on the back, lighter on the front.

During the week the window wiper washer bottle emptied its contents and a quick look last night revealed the plastic clip that holds one of the hoses on had perished and broken. The motor housing has also perished badly and cracked, so I'll be taking the van in this morning to have it looked at (hopefully the extended warranty will cover this)

Turns out the horse had 2 problems. Someone has fitted a fuel pump and bent the arm on the sender arghhhh!!!!! so its empty still showing 1/4. Ah well raise the empty bar, sorted. Second one the classic No30 relay Ecu relay. Even tried my test relay but in this very hot weather even it wouldnt cut it, great for diagnostics but i think Jmac was pushing using it to drive all over Brisbane hehehe. Fit new one (not a Malaysian one, pukka German jobbie)
Been good since. Next stop for the horse is sign writing, just waiting to see if my new product will come to fruition before i do so

Drained trans and filled with MTL. I put it in plenty others so gave her a treat, which was well earned. Next move for the big unit is some signage as my new product has came to fruition, gear should be here soon and some extra lighting in the rear. Considering an invertor too and another battery set up.

Do it mate. My old man had a pair of auxillary batteries and an inverter in the back of his Hiace when he was a mobile locksmith. Very handy. My mate has another option, he's a mobile mechanic, and uses a suitcase-style Honda generator.

New rotors and Remsa Pads fitted all round. Thanks to GSL and JMac for the parts and work. Nicely bedded in and the stopping power is noticeably increased. Oil & Filter service all for a great price. Alba European is a definite bonus for the VWWatercooled community.
