    Spotted: T5 update in Australia

What are you guys doing? I visit Sydney for one day, walk down George st. and snap 2 x T5.5 Multivans on the street. They're here!!!

Hopefully the photos work... we'll see:

"Volkswagen Transporter celebrates 60 years, new model due here this week"

I had a case of the eby geebies when i read this .....

But dont think they will do the Cali for OZ with the sliding door on the left do you?

VW are spoil sports....So are the OZ Government.

I was at New Model training for the T5GP (as it's officially known), and there was no mention of the Cali.

In other news, I have a new 103kw manual T5GP sitting in my bay at work right now. Looking forward to taking it for a spin in the morning.

I bet you it will have a plenty of pulling power. Especially if it would be a 7sp DSG.

I also managed to sit in a base model T5GP at my local dealer a half hour ago.

Dealer passed on the offical pricing so if it's OK can I post it here mods?..after I can scan it that is.

I posted it below and please delete if Mods think it's a no no.

Big difference between Multivan Comfortline 2.0L TDI 132kW 7 Spd DSG and Multivan Comfortline 2.0L TDI 132kW 7 Spd DSG. 4MOTION.

Wasn't the case with the previous model.

                      • Thanks Dermot ..... I take it the 7spd DSG is new .... not the 7spd DSG from the Golf as that wasn't able to handle more than 250NM and the 132kw jobbie makes 400NM?

That's presumably because 4Motion wasn't available with automatic (DSG or normal). 4Motion manual was about $4k more than 2wd manual. Automatic was about $3k more than manual, but not available with 4Motion. So a 4Motion manual was only about $1k more than a 2wd auto. Now you have the option of both auto (DSG) and 4Motion together, and the price increase for 4Motion DSG (over 2wd DSG) is about the same as it always was.

                            Brian,

                            I take your point.

As an exercise I plugged in my VIC post code to get the pricing from the VW website. It is still listed for the previous T5 model.

About to say sorry no then thanks to Dermot above.

I was at another Melb. VW dealer that provided me with a more extensive specifications/options list for vans only if any one is interested. I didn't get pricing and the dealer has a 2.0L biT LWB 6sp and a swb Transporter. DSG models arriving some time next week.

What excited me the most was the fact that a Crewvan with rear wing doors is possible if you speak to the right salesman...even though it doesn't appear on official spec sheets, some superceded T5's were imported this way.

Plus high powered Transporters have 17" rims and brakes are 340mm discs front. All vans are 294mm rear. All vans I saw had Bridgestone Duravis tyres made in Spain. 235/55R17 for 132kW & 215/65R16 for 75/103kW
