It's more than OK for automatic.

I'm still getting just under 10 for around town and low 9's on trips. TDi Auto Multivan.

I was just having a look for used vans and came across this one, I have no link to the seller just an FYI.

Auto TDI will always be quicker from the traffic lights than manual TDI. I don't think that there is too much difference in the fuel economy between manual and auto TDI. V6 is the fastest and quite economical too.
I still would buy 4Motion 128kW today since the updated one is not available yet.

Funny enough, this is 1 area where I'm not too fussed about its performance ... (I know its a bit of a departure ... must be getting old )

It will be used for school runs (3 kids and their friends mean many seats needed), possibly city driving (daily) and long distance family trips.

I like the Tig so much lately I might be keeping it (for me) instead of getting the R next year. If so the Tig will be getting some serious upgrades to make up for it. Or might have 3 VWs in the family .... ...

I must definitely take 125TSI Tiguan for test drive. Wife still drives 1999 Forester, dough, she doesn't complain

125 is a great drive stock and absolutely awesome in 190 mode

My wife still drives the RAV4 daily atm as she is too sorry for the Tig to drive it to the station (and leave it there all day) after dropping the kids off. She reckons she will be less worried leaving a 2 yr old Multivan at the station

Also considering a Caddy Maxi Life as it may be less intimidating to drive in the city.

Sharkie, if the car is mostly for short trips get petrol engine, diesel takes longer to warm up and if with DPF it would be regenerating all the time. But you most likely know that.

Now looking at a new vehicle, and the other half likes our current diesels as well as I do. However, your advice is sound for the selection of a petrol vehicle for short trips. I have one fear tht one day one of us will forget what we are driving and put petrol in the diesel, or visa versa ...

Since my A.C. has been out of action my economy has improved by almost 1l/100. Maybe I should drive with windows down more often.
